WYOMING FLIES - SHOP FAVORITESStoneflies Nymphs Mayflies Terrestrials Caddis
The cone head Zuddler has been one our guides most productive streamers on our Wyoming rivers. We have fished it on the Gray Reef, upper North Platte, and in several stillwaters, all with great results. This fly is best fished with a fast jerky retrieve, especially post runoff on the upper North Platte. The Zuddler comes in black, white, yellow, and olive.
A must have in everyone's streamer box. This fly has fished well in all conditions. It is a conehead fly tied Matuka style with brown, orange and yellow feathers and olive crystal chenille body. It looks like a twenty first century Platte River Special. The OBS has been especially productive on the upper North Platte in the fall, as well as, the Gray Reef.
The Platte River Spider is fantastic low water fly because it is merely a hook and marabou. The colors are perfect for the Platte, brown and yellow. The Platte River Spider is best fished below a sinking line or behind a heavily weighted fly during higher water flows and behind a bead head streamer when the water is lower. It also fishes great on the swing. One of the better crayfish immitations we've seen. Fish this fly anywhere you find crayfish in Wyoming.
The Beldar Bugger is a great streamer in poor water clarity or at night. It is tied with guinnea hen and crystal chenille, making it quite flashy. Did I mention it also has rubber legs. This fly has it all when it comes to attracting fish in subpar water conditions. The Beldar Bugger is offered in brown and yellow, black and white, and olive and white. All colors have been equally productive on any given day. The Beldar Bugger fishes great when our Wyoming rivers are still cloudy during post runoff.
The Flash Fry is a double bunny style fly designed by Colorado's own Shane Stalcup. This dumbell eyed, epoxy headed streamer looks alive in the water, with an unbelievable unjulating motion. The brown and yellow color combination has fished extremely well on the upper North Platte and Encampment Rivers in the fall. The Flash Fry is a great bait fish or a small brown trout immitation.
The Bow River Rubber Bugger is a spun deerhead streamer tied with a rubabud body, making it look alive when its in the water. The olive Bow River is a great sculpin immitation and has fished well on the Big Horn River.
This is a great sculpin pattern tied with a handy stinger hook. Because it is not tied on a long shanked hook the body has the freedom to move with each strip, making it look alive in the water. The dumbell eyes give it just enough weight to fish along the banks without getting hung up every cast. This fly has fished extremely well on the Gray Reef in the fall, but will fish well in any Wyoming rivers that contain sculpins. The Meat Whistle is one of John Barr's most unique fly creations ever, which is saying something when your talking about all great flies he has created. It is one of the best crayfish immitations going and has fished with great results from the upper North Platte to the Gray Reef. It is tied on a 90 degree keel style hook, which gives it an unbelievable motion in the water.
This fly, which is tied in brown and yellow, should be illegal on the North Platte. It has heavy dumbell eyes and rubber legs, so it's perfect for fishing during the runoff. The Big Horn Bugger fishes best on the North Platte in the fall.
The Vanilla Bugger is a great bait fish and cranefly larvae immitation, making it very productive on the Gray Reef, especially in the spring. It is a cream colored, conehead streamer that is often best fished dead drifted under a strike indicator. We fish the Vanilla Bugger from sizes 2 to 6.
The Butt Monkey is the brain child of Kelly Gallup from the Slide Inn, who is now a featured tier for Rainy's flies. This is a great baitfish immitation and comes in rust or olive. This woolhead, dumbell eyed streamer looks great in the water and has taken large trout on the North Platte and at our private stillwaters.

This one of the best floating Green Drake's that we have fished. It fished great last year during the Encampment River's Green Drake hatch in early July. Try dropping a Green Drake cripple off the back of this great floating fly and you will have a tandom on self respecting trout can ignore.
Have a hard time seeing your size 22 Trico spinners? Try this highly visible size 22 Trico Spinner. The Pearl Butt Trico Spinner has fished well, especially to picky fish, both on the upper North Platte and the Gray Reef. This is unlike any other Trico you've ever seen. The neon pink parachute post may make it visible in just about all light condtions but the pearl krystal flash abdomen is what makes it irresistable to trout
This BWO emerger pattern has proven itself over and over again the last couple of years. This fly is tied on a emerger style hook and has a Z-Lon trailing shuck which rides below the surface of the water. This fly also fishes great during the midge hatch in size 20 and 22. This is the fly our guides go to during the baetis hatches on the upper North Platte.
This is a must have fly for any lake fisherman. This cripple consistently out fishes standard adult Callibaetis patterns. It is best fished behind a large attractor dry fly becuase it rides so low in the water and can be difficult to see. Try one during the Callibaetis hatch and you won't be disappointed.
This epoxy BWO nymph fishes great on Wyoming's tailwaters, especially the Gray Reef section of the North Platte RIver. We fish this pattern from March till early May and again during the fall Baetis hatch. It is typically fished behind a larger nymph below a strike indicator.
This PMD adult fly pattern has a great profile and floats like a cork. Works great during the PMD hatch on the upper North Platte and other Wyoming waters.
The Indicator Trico Spinner is great fly for the angler who has a hard time seeing size 22 dry flies. It has been a great Trico immitation on the upper North Platte River and the Gray Reef. Try fishing Barr's sunk trico behind the Indicator Trico Spinner and watch your hookups increase.
The Purpleback Baetis is small dark colored baetis pattern with a prismatic pearl wing case. It fishes extremely well on the Gray Reef in the spring. Look to have the best luck with this fly during overcast days. The low light conditions seems to turn fish on to the prismatic wing case.
Great fly to fish from May to July on any Wyoming or Colorado rivers that have a Green Drake hatch. We fish mainly on the Encampment River from early June till the hatch is over in July. Mike Mercer is the king of epoxy back flies and this one certainly doesn't disappoint.
Every lake fisherman should have this fly in his arsenal of flies. This light gray Callibaetis nymph fishes great deep with split shot, as well as, right below the surface behind a large dry fly. Most of the lakes around Laramie in southeast Wyoming get a significant Callibaetis hatch.
Great nymph on the upper North Platte just before and durning the PMD hatch. The split wingcase immitates a hatching pupa and at times the fish will really key on this emergant stage. Great fly to fish with a hopper dropper rig.

The CDC Foam Ant is offered in both red and black but the red ant has been a real day saver. This fly has been extremely productive on tough trout, especially on the Laramie River and the North Platte River. Try fishing it during the Trico hatch, you'll be amazed. This fly brings fish to the surface on the North Platte on a more consistant basis than any other fly we use.
The Truk's Tarantula was design by Guy Turk in Jackson Hole Wyoming. It fishes well on both rivers and lakes. Great stonefly immitation when fishing in black and orange or a hopper in hares ear or yellow. Any body fishing the Rocky Mountain region during late summer should absolutely have a few Turk's Tarantulas in their fly box.
This hopper immitation was designed by Colorado's own Shane Stalcup, who is one of todays most progressive fly tiers. His pattented hopper legs with red tufts of marabou seems to make fish go crazy. This fly floats like a cork and is a great hopper for a hopper/dropper rig. If you're heading to the Jackson Hole area in July you better make sure you have a few of these in your fly box.
This is an incredibly great floating hopper from the masters of the foam fly. The Grand Hopper is absolutely without a doubt the best floating hopper on the market, making it the best hopper to fish with large stonefly nymphs. This is another fly to have in your fly box if you are going to fish in the Rocky Mountains, and especially in Wyoming, during July and August.
The Turk's Power Ant is a great ant pattern for fishing with a nymph below it. It's larger size and floatability make a great choice for faster pocket water conditions. It has fished espcially well in the high alpine creeks and streams of the Medicine Bow National forest.
This is one of the best beetle Patterns we have used. It is a very large pattern, which makes it a great canidate to fish in fast rough water. The Monster Beetle fishes best in late summer thru mid fall, especially on the upper North Platte near the Six Mile Gap access.
The Fuzzy Wuzzy is a great twist on the old Chernobyl Ant. It fishes great in the red during the salmon fly hatch in late June on the upper North PLatte and later in the summer in tan as a hopper immitation. They float like a cork and the trout don't seem to be able to resist 'em. Streamers Nymphs Mayflies Terrestrials Caddis
If you want your stones to get into deep pocket water in a hurry, then this is your bug. The MOAT (mother of all tungsten) Stone is tied with 3 tungsten beads in it's thorax, making it the heaviest stone fly nymph we've ever seen. This fly fishes great pre and post runoff on the upper North Platte. The extreme weight of this fly allows you to get into deep runs and pockets that you wouldn't be able to touch with a normal stone fly nymph.
The Sparkle Biot Golden Stone fishes great on the Miracle Mile, upper North Platte, and on the Gray Reef section of the North Platte. It has been our best golden stone immitation.
This is a new take on an old pattern. The Beeotch Creek nymph is tied with rubber hackle on the throrax and barred rubber legs to give it a 21st century look, but the fishability of the old standby. This fly fishes best right after runoff or in other dirty water conditions.
ThIs fly is a great nymph on the Gray Reef during the Yellow Sallie hatch. It is best fished as a point fly under an indicator or on the swing in shallow riffles.
The B1 Bomber Salmon Fly is a great bug for heavy fast water. It floats like a cork and is very durable. This is a great pattern for fishing the upper North Platte, especially near North Gate Canyon, during the Salmon Fly hatch.
The Rogue Foam Stone is Four Seasons Anglers favorite Stone Fly immitation. The one down fall of this stone fly is that it is not quite as durable as the B1 Bomber because of the deer hair head. The fish on the upper Platte absolutely can't leave it alone.
This stone fly immitation looks like something from outer space. We're quite sure that the trout on the upper Platte haven't seen too many of these.

The absolute best fly for any of Wyoming's great trout fisheries. This is one of the most versitle flies in the world. We fish this bug in all types of water, including freestone rivers, tailwaters, and lakes. This is a bug we always carry on guide trips, wether we are going to the upper North Platte or to the Gray Reef. This is a must have in every fly fisher's fly box.
